Review Vichy Liftactiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector

I received this product for free from Vichy.

Liftactiv is, according to Vichy, their most powerful anti-aging range. The range is composed of cream, serum, eye cream, eye serum. There isn’t any face cleanser or sunscreen, so you have to explore other ranges if you want to have one. The newest item added to the Liftactiv range was a vitamin C serum, the product I’m reviewing today.

A powerful formula with 15% pure vitamin C, vitamin E, fragmented hyaluronic acid and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. In 10 days of use, your complexion looks brighter and evener. Skin feels firmer as if lifted, rested and hydrated.

The product comes in a small UV-protective bottle because it carries some UV-sensitive ingredients such as vitamin C.

The bottle is sealed with a cap and the dropper comes apart.

Texture and scent

The texture is super watery.

It has a weird smell of I don’t know what. It’s weird but it doesn’t bother me much.

How to use

Vichy: “Place 4 to 5 drops in the palm of the cleansed hand. Apply once per day (morning or evening) using fingertips on a freshly cleansed, dry skin, avoiding the eye contour, as the first step of your skincare routine. Do not apply on lips. It is strongly recommended to follow up with a sun protection factor of at least 15 before sun exposure. We recommend using the product for 10 to 15 days, 3 to 4 times per year when skin needs a cure for brighter, more even and firmer skin. The product can also be used over 28 continuous days with no risk for cutaneous reactions. We do not recommend using any skin abrasive or skin peeling product containing other acids (fruit acids, Glycolic acid, AHA) at the same time since this can lead to skin irritation. At the beginning when using this product, slight tingling sensations may occur as the skin gets used to pure Vitamin C. This is a normal reaction. However, stinging or burning sensations are not normal, and in the unlikely case that they occur, we recommend to wash your face with cold water and space out the product use to every other day.”

I’ve been using this product daily during the morning because it’s very liquid and absorbs really well. It doesn’t leave my skin oily but it does take around 5 minutes to be completely absorbed. Although I feel like when I apply another product on top of it, it takes less time to be absorbed. As my face is already very used to pure vitamin C products, I didn’t experience any signs of irritation whatsoever.

What I really wasn’t happy with was about its color. I’m very grateful and happy when I get a pure vitamin C serum whose color is transparent. This one, unfortunately, didn’t match my expectation. I was expecting it to be clear but it turns out to be a yellowish liquid. Yellow/orange vitamin C reminds me of oxidation. The color doesn’t look that bad. The good thing is, it hasn’t changed its color since when I opened it, so that’s OK.

The product is very liquid to the point that I have to be careful with each application. I use 2 drops on one cheek and I immediately massage the product. Due to its extremely liquid texture, if I don’t massage it on time, it runs to the edge of my face and falls off. Two drops on each cheek, two drops on my forehead. Total of 6 drops for my entire face.

This serum absorbs very well because it contains alcohol. I feel my face a bit sticky during the first few minutes but then it gets really smooth like I haven’t applied anything before. It does not dry out my skin nor make it oilier. I also don’t feel like this product makes my face shiny.

Final thoughts

Even though this product is small (10 mL), it’s lasting me a long time. I started using it on the sixth of December, once a day, and I still have got a lot of product left. I was expecting it to last around 10 days only. That’s good because it’s not a very affordable product.

I like its formula. It’s very watery, absorbs very well, and after a few minutes, I feel like there’s absolutely nothing sitting on my skin. It’s well formulated and I think it’s a good vitamin C for oily skin.

I would like to see a transparent color. Is that too much to ask? And also, why do some companies (like Vichy) don’t want to disclosure the pH of a product? It’s not cool! However, I bought some pH strips so I will add the pH of this product once I have it tested.

I would also like if Vichy could release a big size one cause vitamin C is something you (can) use every day throughout the year.
