Azelaic acid is naturally produced by yeast that lives on the skin but can also be found in grains. It brightens the skin tone, helps with irregular texture, and diminish the look of blemishes.
Description
Found in grains, Azelaic Acid is produced naturally by yeast that lives on normal skin. It brightens the skin tone while visibly improving the evenness of skin texture and reducing the look of blemishes. It is a multi-functional support ingredient for all skin types and also acts as an effective antioxidant. This formula offers a very high 10% concentration of high-purity Azelaic Acid in a lightweight cream-gel system.
Ingredient list

Analysis of some ingredients
Isodecyl Neopentanoate: An emollient similar to cyclomethicone;
Dimethicone: It’s a silicone that works as an anti-foaming agent, skin and hair conditioner and skin protectant. It prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by forming a hydrating barrier on the skin. It can also fill in fine lines/wrinkles on the face, giving it a temporary plump appearance;
Azelaic Acid (10%): It’s an ingredient used to treat melasma (when used around 20%), and acne. It also helps to improve skin texture, dark spots, and it’s also an anti-inflammatory. A 10% concentration is effective on mild acne, skin texture, and might help with some dark spots, but not melasma;
Dimethicone/Bis-Isobutyl PPG-20 Crosspolymer: A mixture of high molecular weight polyglycol-modified silicone elastomer. Works as an emollient, film-forming agent;
Dimethyl Isosorbide: Works as a solvent, and as a viscosity decreasing agent;
Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer: An emulsifier;
Polysilicone-11: A synthetic cross-linked silicone that forms a film when applied. The film has water-binding properties and leaves the skin smooth;
Isohexadecane: A synthetic ingredient that is used as a texture enhancer. It has a powder-like finish, and since it has a big molecular size, it doesn’t penetrate too deep into the skin;
Tocopherol: Vitamin E. An antioxidant.

CosDNA analysis: The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%.
Packaging
It comes in a tube, like others The Ordinary thick formulas do.
Very easy to use. Just need to squeeze it.
Texture and scent
It’s very thick because of the silicones and polymers in the formula. It has the same texture as a mattifying primer.
I don’t feel any scent coming from this product.
How to use
Apply to face AM and/or PM to improve visible brightness and the appearance of skin texture. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. Use sun protection during the day.
Performance
The first night when I used this product it tingled my face so bad. The second night was terrible, it almost made me wash it off of my face. I’ve never felt such a strong tingling before. The third day was bad, too. However, I kept using it because I knew my face would handle it somehow.
After 5 days, I wasn’t feeling anything when using the product, and that was good because I didn’t want to stop using the product since it has some face-blurring effects, like a primer. After using it for a couple of weeks, I felt like my face was brighter and some pimples that I had during that time were healing faster.
Final thoughts
It’s definitely a good product. The only thing I didn’t like about it (apart of the tingling) was that it doesn’t last long. The texture is thick so I ended up using a lot of product and I ran out of it fast. However, I can’t complain much, this product is only 7.90 dollars.
To sum it all, it’s a good product to have in mind to help with those pimples, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture. It also helps to control the excess of oil.
